John Blackmore, Bridgetown Primary was announced as the overall winner of the competition, for his art!
Special Recognition prizes were awarded to Ellie -Mae Leach of Bridgetown School for the poignant message - Just a little change can make a difference, and Alveston CofE Primary School for their overall contribution to the competition. The volume, standard of art and level of understanding was overwhelming.
The brief was to create a logo that represents nature in Warwickshire.
The winners were chosen by judges; James Fair, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Stephanie Matthews, Natural England, Hannah Young, RSC Actress and Teacher and Emma Holman-West who heads up the Alscot Biodiversity Project.
The winning art will form the design for a new badge that represents the engagement between biodiversity education in local schools and the Alscot Biodiversity Project.
The winners, Eco Club representatives and class teachers enjoyed the prize giving on the terrace at Alscot Park, surrounded by the land within the Alscot Biodiversity Project, where they met Emma Holman-West, Jonathan Thompson, Land Consultant and David Lowe, Head of Ecology at WCC, who all congratulated the children.
Given the difficulties of the last year, we are super proud of all the children for completing the work which is testament to their interest in environmental issues.
The children received badges, certificates and biodiversity seed mix courtesy of Cotswold Seeds and nesting boxes and a beautiful bird table for the winner, handcrafted by Country Carpentry Game Supplies, based at Alscot.
