Standing in beautiful solitude, surrounded by glorious rolling countryside on the Alscot Estate, Beecham Farmhouse offers an elegant, rural escape in the heart of William Shakespeare’s beloved England. The lane leading to Beecham Farmhouse is akin to being on a magical mystery tour, each twist and turn of the hedgerow-lined drive takes you deeper into the countryside. The sweeping tree-lined driveway leads visitors to an enchanting red-brick farmhouse, once the family home of the current estate owner and now a fabulous holiday home for up to 12 guests, and up to two of your favourite four-legged friends.

Step inside and you’ll find an abundance of character and original features including polished flag stone floors and exposed woden beams, combined with all the modern creature comforts needed. The well-equipped kitchen and a fabulous conservatory comes with a 12-seater dining table. It’s an impressive space that lends itself to lazy breakfasts in the sunshine, convivial Sunday lunches and elegant evening dinners with friends. Multiple sets of double doors lead from here into the garden and onto the terrace. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, two further bedrooms on the second floor and four bathrooms. Across the drive stands the annexe with a further bedroom and ensuite shower room. This is also where you will find the games room complete with a bar area and a pool table.

The outside is equally impressive with a huge swathe of south-facing gardens to enjoy and the perfect place for family and friends to gather for summer picnics, alfresco dining or down time of the sunloungers whilst surrounded by the most wonderful views. The charcoal barbecue makes summer evening meals a breeze, and the hot tub is a welcoming place to rest weary bones after long countryside rambles.

The secluded location is idyllic, the surroundings quintessentially rural, yet you are only 3 miles from the vibrant town of Stratford-upon-Avon and a myriad of attractions.

Locke’s Cottage

Locke’s Cottage - one bedroom, bathroom, reception room, kitchen, garden and car parking.

Overlooking the peaceful green, in the oh-so-charming estate village of Preston on Stour, Locke’s Cottage is an enchanting, Grade II listed black and white cottage. Surrounded by wonderful walks, a delightful village shop and café, and the historical appeal of Stratford-upon-Avon on your doorstep, Locke’s is a gorgeous base for Shakespearean escapades and Cotswold adventures.

As you enter Preston on Stour it’s as though time has stood still. Lying in the heart of a conservation area, the village remains beautifully unspoilt, under the gaze of the ancient medieval church of St Mary’s where sheep are still used to keep the grass in check and the yew trees date back more than 500 years.  Locke’s Cottage forms one third of the black and white timber-framed Estate property on the green.

Once inside, the character and original features shine through with old timbers, polished flagstone floors and an open fireplace. A colour palette of greys and neutral tones add to the elegant feel. The olive-green sofa is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring and there’s a smart TV for cosy evenings in. A small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything practical needed for a self-catering stay. On the first floor is a spacious bathroom and charming bedroom with a four-poster bed.

The pretty garden overlooking the green with bistro table and chairs, is a peaceful spot to relax with your morning coffee and there is parking for one car.

Environmental Commitment

As part of Alscot’s overall long-term strategic plan, we operate a policy to explore and implement various sustainable practices and systems across all departments, by way of a positive contribution to the UK’s efforts to combat climate change. This includes, office digitalisation, hybrid working, the operation of hybrid vehicles, energy performance and compliance measures inc. LED lighting, efficient boilers, effective insulation, rainwater harvesting, electric vehicle charging and robotic mowers'.

Sustainable land management practises such as regenerative farming and Biodiversity Net Gain, lead to improved soil structure, organic matter, cleaner air and flood mitigation. The natural grasslands encourage rare wildlife species and act as habitats. Planting trees and hedgerows capture carbon and provide shelter to livestock and act as corridors for wildlife.

Meanwhile, further north…….The Kilfinichen Estate lies to the west of Ben More, and comprises the lands of Kilfinichen, Tiroran, Tavool, Balmeanach and Derryguaig, on the western side of Mull. Kilfinichen's literal translation is Chapel of St. Fhionnchain, and the estate includes the area of ground known as the Ardmeanach peninsular - a beautiful and remote corner of the island.

As well as being home to an array of wildlife, the land is farmed, with both sheep and cattle residing on the estate. There is rich cultural history here, dating back to prehistoric times as well as some geological wonders including a fossilised tree, that was formed in a lava flow some 50 million years ago.

Derryguaig Smiddy sits on the south side of Loch na Keal, in an elevated position with far reaching views over the loch and island of Eorsa. Balmeanach Farmhouse enjoys a similar setting just past the Gribun cliffs on Loch na Keal, while Fisherman's Bothy, Old Post Office and Kilfinichen House are some 8 miles to the south, with views of Loch Scridain.
