The setting was perfect, on the evening of 6th July, as the Alscot Estate XI played cricket against the Birmingham Property Professionals “All Stars” XI. Having won the toss the Estate put the opposition into bat and proceeded to put in place damage limitation as the “All Stars” hit 4s and 6s for fun! Despite some excellent fielding from all players (and some not quite so good catching) the All Stars managed to race along at just under 10 an over to post a formidable total of 191 in ...20 overs. Following a quick break the Estate’s reply started steadily and, despite a couple of quick wickets, solid innings from the middle order saw a brief glimmer of hope for the Estate XI. A fairy-tale victory was, however, never on the cards and some tight bowling ensured that the Estate were kept to a respectable but losing total of 110 in their 20 overs. Overall a disappointing result but an enjoyable evening!
