Alscot Park was the venue on Friday 9th Dec for the C&W Chamber of Commerce South Warwickshire Branch Meeting. The topic of conversation was green skills and how businesses are focusing on becoming more sustainable. It was a great opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and businesses and share thoughts, ideas and connections.
Jonathan Thompson welcomed the group to Alscot on behalf of the Estate and gave an insight into some of the incredible projects in the pipeline at Alscot, plans to create employment in the area and plans for a greener, renewable, and more sustainable future, including biodiversity net gain, hydro and solar power. The Estate's aim is to be carbon neutral by 2050.
Doug King Founder and CEO of Yelo Enterprises Ltd, based at Alscot, and the new Coventry City Football Club Owner, was truly inspiring. Explaining, amongst other things, how Yelo; a company proudly delivering sustainable products from British rapeseed, generates its own heat and power in their state-of-the-art factory, from UK sourced low-grade biomass wood, making it one of the most energy and carbon-efficient production sites in the UK.
Corin Crane, Chief Executive at C&W Chamber of Commerce and Larry Coltman C&W Chamber of Commerce, South Warwickshire Chair, also presented to the group and Sean Rose from the C&W Chamber of Commerce offered positive feedback. It was the perfect opportunity for visiting businesses and those in Local Government to discuss opportunities in the region and the green agenda.
