It’s been a fittingly exciting English Tourism Week at Alscot.
On Tuesday 18th March, we had the privilege of attending the West Midlands Tourism Awards at Edgbaston Stadium, proudly representing Stay at Alscot in the Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year category. These prestigious awards, run in association with Visit England and the Awards for Excellence, recognise businesses that meet high industry standards across all areas, including, product development, marketing, sustainability, systems, and more—culminating in an in-person assessment by an expert panel.
The award and recognition now takes us forward to be entered into the national 2025 VisitEngland Awards for Excelence.
Our journey to this point has been anything but conventional. Back in 2022/23, we faced relentless challenges trying to obtain planning permission to renovate a Grade II* listed property in the heart of a conservation village. Despite multiple setbacks, we pivoted, working within the constraints to transform the space into a one-bedroom holiday cottage, preserving its incredible period features.
But then, Emma Holman-West had an even bigger vision—why stop at one? In under 28 working days, we took on the challenge of refurbishing a vacant six-bedroom farmhouse, and on 1st July, 2023, Stay at Alscot was born.
To have the team's efforts recognised by the industry so soon is an incredible honour, and each and everyone of the team are extremely proud to be part of Stay at Alscot’s success.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey! And a big shout-out to every other business that flew the flag for tourism in yesterday evening.
And yes, of course, we partied!
